WORST INSURANCE AGENCY EVER!!!

For context I bought my car at Island Honda on Maui last Month (Mid-September). When purchasing my car the sales rep helped me get insurance by using Comparion (if I see him again I'm telling him to never use this agency with anyone else ever again). My father was with me when I was getting my car and spoke to agent Martin Ohtsuki-Eells. While I finalized my car purchase, my dad was kind enough to pay my first month of insurance & the other upfront payment. I'm not sure how their entire phone call went but after my father informed me to call Martin on Monday and give him my payment info for my future bills.

That Monday I tried to call him but he didn't answer so I left a voicemail. When I was done leaving my VM I saw that he had texted me and explained he was on another phone call. I texted back & explained who I was and I wanted to give my new payment info. He said once he was done with his current call he'd call me back. It wasn't until I was finished with my shift at work that I realized he never called me back. I didn't stress it so I waited a few days to call again. Any time I've called since I've had to leave a voicemail. I have his business card (provided by Island Honda) so I decided to send him a email. Once again I have yet to get a response from him. I even went as far as to forward my email to DTRIC to see if they can help me (they also never responded).

Eventually I decided to try online and on the DTRIC app but was unsuccessful. I'm not too sure if it's the website acting up or that fact that my insurance is linked to this stupid agency that it's not letting me add a new card. When I called DTRIC direct to see if they can help me I was told that since Comparion is my agency they are unable to change anything for me.

Additionally to not being able to contact ANYONE to update basic info, when I was on the DTRIC website I noticed that in my personal info is completely wrong. It's listen that I'm male & my DOB is 00/00/**, I'm literally a young women. They can't even put basic info into their system?

I've called every number I can find and NO ONE is answering. Does this agency even exist??? I've gone as far as call other agents and just like Martin, no one answers.

If they can't even help you with your basic information, what makes you think they will help you in critical situations?! I'm so close to flying from Maui to Oahu to go in person and speak to someone but based on the other reviews I've read, no one is even there at the address!

I'm planning to pay my car loan sooner JUST SO I WON'T BE AFFILIATED WITH THIS STUPID INSURANCE COMPANY AGAIN.

THIS IS A WARNING TO ANYONE WHO MIGHT WANT TO CHOOSE THEM, DON'T DO IT! I've only had insurance with them for a little bit now & I can't wait for the day I don't need to.

I purchased an auto insurance policy through one of their agents in early 2024. When it was time to renew my policy, I discovered that my agent left the island and was no longer selling insurance. I went straight to the underwriters (DTRICH) and they said I had to go through comparion to get insurance. I tried calling comparion and leaving messages. No one returned my calls. I walked to the business and the person at the lobby said that no one works at this address and the door is locked. I have felt frustrated and would avoid this business at all costs.

What a joke, like others I was on hold for over 40 minutes with no one getting on the line to cancel a policy.  And they have no other way to reach them, i.e., email.  Worthless.

Terrible. Nobody EVER returned my calls!!!!!! EVER!!!!

Tried calling to renew my policy. Left 2 messages no call back. Spent about an hour on the phone and  kept getting  transferred  to different people. Then they transferred me to a number that doesn't exist... customer service needs improvement.  It's like no one wants to work there so they keep transferring to the next person.

I love this office. They did all the heavy lifting and shopped around for the best price for me.  They really take care of the local people :) Highly recommend.

I was going strong with Liberty mutual for about two years. I got into a small accident and filed a claim just so the other person couldn’t claim something that didn’t happen. I didn’t even go through insurance to get it fixed or anything. I got a letter saying they could no longer insure me. What is the point of paying for insurance if they aren’t going to stick with you. I didn’t even use insurance money! Oh and on top of that now there is a random Tow claim that never happened. My car has never been towed since I got it so now I have to go through the process of denying that. Which I didn’t even get any emails OR calls about. Very weird and very frustrating!

Not helpful and wont do anything on the weekends so you will have to call the 1800 number over to the mainland. Then its hit or miss with the person on the other line.

This company overall is a fraud, they chose to insure my home, without doing an initial inspection, and after two years of paying for their services they told me they could no longer serve me. They stated my roof needed to be repaired, once I asked them what needed to be accomplished, they mentioned it didn't matter because they weren't going to insure me anyways. Good customer service will always work with you because they want to keep your business. I felt it was a scheme because they knew my property value went up and they wanted to charge me more, so they stopped insuring me hoping I would ask for a different (new policy).

Then I had a motorcycle and rental insurance with them, I called them stating I needed to cancel my rental insurance because I was moving to a different house and they never proceeded with it. PLEASE RECORD THE CONVERSATIONS FROM THIS COMPANY. they state one thing over the phone and they write another thing down in their notes. Someone, please fix the structure of this company.

Last year, I changed my home insurance from state farm to Liberty Mutual and in Hawaii, Hurricane insurance is mandatory for home owner. I was informed by Liberty Mutual to keep my previous Hurricane Insurance until it expire and Liberty Mutual will take care of transferring over to their Hurricane Insurance Polymar. I received second and Final Notice from my home loan company stating they have not received the Hurricane insurance and they will charge extra to cover for the months I have not paid. I have contacted Liberty Mutual when I received my first notice from my Home Loan Company and they told me they will take care of it and I was told, I do not have to do anything. This was 2-3 months back and other day, I received the 2nd notice from home loan and as of today, they have not received the Hurricane Policy. DO NOT PURCHASE INSURACE FROM LIBERTY MUTUAL.  I'm going back to STATE FARM.

Had a house fire and my car was in the garage.  Both covered under LM.  We hired an Adjuster for the claim for the house, thank god we did because it was like pulling teeth.  So many delays and a lot of it was from the insurance side.  My car.. Slightly melted claimed that under the Auto policy... My first ever accident happened a couple of months post the fire. Claimed that. My insurance went from 1k to 9k a year. JUST FOR THE AUTO POLICY.  Mind you the house fire cause was deemed "undetermined" therefore not our fault.  House total loss, we basically had to pay everything out-of-pocket before they decided to hand out chump change. Ridiculous.

Not reliable and not dependable.  Seriously, why do I even have this company as my insurance that I cannot rely on When it matters most.  In the past 17 years I never made a claim.  Agent won’t even return calls.  Give me a break.

Screw me over. Twice. They refunded one payment back to me for no reason then I had to pay extra for an extra month. It's a long story but I don't recommend them.

I was paying 2.4k every year with Geico, switched to Liberty Mutual and saved 1.2k per year

So far a terrible experience with this Insurance company. Go somewhere else for your insurance needs. I have wind damage to my roof that pulled up a significant amount of shingles and they deemed it repairable. Had multiple roofers come out and say it would not be a quality repair and they recommend a full  replacement. I asked for a second adjuster and an engineer for a second opinion. They straight up turned me down. My roof hasn't been repaired yet and it's 3 months after the claim. Luckily one of the contractors put a temporary patch on my roof.

In the 24 years I’ve had liberty mutual, they have never let me down. Wonderful company, wonderful employees!! Ask for Micheal Ho 🥰

My experience thus far has been terrible. I have a claim right now for water damage to my roof. Everything went well with the estimate and Liberty Mutual sending the first check as a down payment to the roofing company, now Liberty Mutual has disappeared. I cannot get a hold of the claims rep. Stanley Markovsky or the estimator Keith Fox. The roofing company finished the job the day before Thanksgiving and they want their money to get paid but Liberty Mutual has disappeared. I tried contacting everyone who I had correspondence with since I started this claim, a total of 4 people, no one responds. The roofing company is all over me now, they want their money. Whats going on ?

The customer service reps are very kind and helpful and to the point. They helped me adjust my policy to my needs and budget. I am able to bundle two vehicles, renters insurance and more. I definitely recommend Liberty Mutual for all your coverage needs!

Other than their phone connection and being hung up on while on hold, once I spoke to the right person, I was helped with s great attitude.

I was shopping around for Homeowner insurance quotes and liberty Mutual took it upon themself to open up a policy and charge my mortgage company without me ever signing a single document or without me have any knowledge what they were doing. Luckly i received a letter from my mortgage company telling me they paid 2 insurance policies. What a headache I had to get the liberty mutual policy # from my mortgage company before Liberty would even talk to me. Finally they said uet they opened a policy without my signature and they would mail me a paper check. I must deposit that and send $3500 back to my mortgage escrow if not my mortgage rates would increase. OMG so much drama all because I went to liberty website and simply requested an insurance quote. I am sooo shocked how they can just charge my mortgage without me ever signing or agreeing to open a policy. I guess they hope owners do not noticr what they did and so they can collect payment from your mortgage. Stay far far away do not even request quotes from their website. BEWARE

Very helpful front desk. The directions using google maps is a little confusing. The office is actually on the backside of the "Bank of Hawaii" building on the 5th floor. Very clean office, even offered me a water.

They were good until I got into my 1st car accident in my 44 yrs of life. I had 1 speeding ticket when i was in my 20's. They wouldn't renew my car insurance. Said I'm a risk. REALLY?! UP YOURS LIBERTY MUTUAL!!

Liberty mutual is my auto insurance since 1999.

Worst insurance company for auto.  The agent talked me into switching to Liberty Mutual from another company.  I had full coverage due to paying for my car through a credit union.

My daughter had an accident and we used the insurance.  I get a letter stating that due to the accident, they would no longer be able to insure me.

Why did I pay for all this insurance?  I paid for insurance for protection.  I use the protection and they drop me.  Not good.  I went back to the insurance company they talked me into leaving.

Their ads say they customize your  car insurance but don't. We told them we hardly drive but they insisted we pay top premium. We switched to Geico for half price! Then Liberty offered a lower cost, liars.

I've had LM insurance for 15 years. Upon my renewal this year, my premium increased by $7000/year. You read that right: $7000/year. I have one car with Liability and collision and I'm the only operator. Insanely high; shop around.

I made a claim for a deep scratch on my car, and they marked that as an accident. Now they raised my insurance and other companies see their inaccurate designation as well. So hard to find low cost insurance. Not worth their $1000 reimbursement for something that was a comprehensive claim, not a collision.
