I have had my home and vehicle insured by Liberty mutual for the past 10 years.  If all you want is the belief you have coverage without any resemblance of any kind of customer service, this is the place for you! I was not calling in to place a claim nor have I ever! I was mearly trying to get information on a policy that I had purchased earlier this year. It was an additional business liability insurance. As it turns out the cockamami broker that sold it to me sold me something that was completely not what I needed.   On top of that, to add insult to injury, I spent approximately 8 hours on the phone going through phone trees and listening to crap music! The few times I was able to actually get to a human being they were either clueless about what to do or how to do it! Can't even imagine what would happen if I actually had a claim with this company. If you enjoy being abused and treated like a number,  this is probably the  insurance company for you. Otherwise I woulds steer clear at all cost. As of today I'm in moving all my insurances to another company that actually treats me as a human being .  Someplace that is reasonable and has people that at least can fake sincerity!  My advice to anyone who might give a rats ass either way and is in the position to do something about it, would be to save the money on the stupid ass mascot and train people how to do their job!

Update: The local agency staff are good people and listen to you. However, the national call center and Liberty Mutual no longer have good customer service.
Do not, I repeat do not use this company. I was a customer for 16+ yrs. and can count the number of claims on 1 hand for that entire time and never missed a payment. I made my payment per usual toward the end of the month and it just so happened it was a couple of days before the weekend so the entire online process was held up because banks don't operate on the weekend. My payment ended up being late and unbeknown to me I was charged a $10 late fee. Next month comes, no bill received. I called to ask what my bill was and ahhh yes, cancelled over a $10 late fee. Guess that is how Liberty Mutual and this Comparion Insurance Agency take care of loyal customers. When I first started using this company they were caring and nice but now their customer representatives are very inconsiderate and rude. In particular this guy named "Nick" If you choose to select them for insurance, good luck.

I have been trying to deal with Liberty Mutual for months now. My friend past away the beginning of July. Went to this office. They said they couldn’t do anything until I got executor letter. Got appointed by the court. Went back and agent said they don’t deal with Liberty mutual any more. Several days on the phone waiting 45-60 minutes to no avail. with Liberty Mutual. My friend’s insurance was paid for a year, renters insurance paid for a year should be getting a refund but even though I sent a registered letter to Liberty Mutual I got no response. I just got a bill in the mail for insurance!!!!! He hasn’t owned the car in six months. Never heard anything about my registered letter explaining everything. I have no idea what to do now except report back to the surrogate court on the fraud being perpetuated. My friend dealt with this office for years. I’m at a loss.

We were out of town and had wind damage to our camper - took pictures of the damage, answered some questions and submitted a claim on line. We had an estimate for repairs within 24 hours and a check in less than a week! They were amazing!!!

Liberty Mutual Owned. Liberty Mutual will screw you over and over. They are helpful if you can get ahold of a person, but the corporation is designed to screw over it's customers. They are no help. NY requires a photo inspection, but none are within 50 miles that are open. You have a small window of time to figure out something. They are the worst insurance company I have had in 40 years. I will be dropping them next week. The dealerships say they are the worst company to deal with. They screwed up m y ID cards over 6 times and it took several days to get it figured out. Beware.

Peter Harris has been my insurance agent for years. He has always been wonderful and gone above and beyond. Never was this more true then after I got in a bad accident with my son in June out of town. It was a traumatic experience and I really felt like he made the process so much easier and less daunting. Absolutely horrid company. One of their drivers smashed into me. I was told I could pick a shop to fix my vehicle. It’s been 3 weeks & my vehicle has STILL not been towed to the shop I chose. It’s been sitting for weeks at the original tow place. I have no vehicle to get around in & a two year old. I called my collision shop & was told it hasn’t been towed to them because liberty mutual hasn’t paid the storage & tow fee in order to release it. As a result my shop had to pay in order to get it towed to them. WHAT!? If you have liberty mutual & have to file a claim, im praying for you. They will drag out the process as long as they possibly can. 3 weeks since I filed my claim with zero progress. I was told an adjuster would reach out to me in 1-2 business days. I haven’t spoke to an adjuster once. I’m forced to deal with the claims department where I’m literally told “I need to wait” or told they will leave a call back number for my adjuster to reach out. Only for them to NEVER call. HIGHLY unprofessional. Run far far away if you have a choice.

Their auto and homeowner rates were substantiality less than my previous provider.

Horrible company !!! Run away . Customer service is the worst I've ever had to deal with. Left on hold for hours the just hung up on. Multiple times.

They low balled me on a insurance claim. Where not very diligent on getting to my case or following up. I don't recommend. I just know if I have any issues the bill will be completely mine to cover. Don't waist your time if you want a good insurance company.

The agent took time to go over my current policy with me, we made comparisons on how he could add value to my policy by switching to Liberty. He stay in touch with me throughout a few days and also recommended additional services.

I called to cancel my ATV insurance and they said the policy automatically cancels if I don’t pay my bill. A month later I get an email saying they automatically extended my policy and I owe them $11 or they will send it to collections.

Robbery! And they are full of it! Bottom line!

Liberty mutual has been nothing but a headache they take there time with things ignore clients and so much more. The lady that responds to claim call is every rude and unprofessional told me she works whenever she wants' she told me she sent me an email which I been waiting for 4 days for and still have yet to receive. There driver smashed my car no license now Im stuck with no car and missing work due to there fault they keep giving me run arounds claims lady told me what do I pay insurance for call and file your own claim I suggest staying every far from Liberty mutual THEY WILL MAKE YOUR LIFE HELL ' P.S Please get rid of claims lady she is making your business unprofessional thank you .

I've tried contacting my agent, Matt Witt, and I get nothing but the runaround.  You can not contact them on the weekends, or evenings, so if you need help when getting pulled over after hours, forget it.  They reported me as having a lapsed insurance (which I did not) so my car got impounded and towed - for their incompetence.  Run from this place, liberty mutual is rubbish.  Whenever you need help, count on their mascot, an ostrich, with their head in the sand.

Taylor G. has been absolutely amazing. He is kind, professional, has a sense of humor, and let's me call with random questions without sounding annoyed with me (I'd be annoyed with me). He did my quote on his day off with no hesitation. He took the time to explain everything to me and let me know what exactly I was purchasing. No one called me back all week. Called Liberty Mutualon Monday I was told someone would call me back that day still haven't heard from Liberty Mutual insurance and it is now Saturday.

Their reps are so sweet and kind.But their rates are astronomical.Wanted me to pay $700 and something for liability only on a 2008  Chevy Cobalt a car that is 12 yrs old.Now don't get me wrong.My eldest daughter did tell me they are a good insurance company but I guess NOT for me with those prices.Others might get cheaper quotes.And NO accidents or DUI's or DWI's good clean driving history I have.
