I remembered that Susan Dennis helped with this type of thing.  I called her.  She very patiently walked my dad and I through choices, answered all questions (we had a million; dad wanted to keep his doctors as this was especially important to him) and figured out his best options.  His out of pocket went down, medicine prices went down, he gets a bit of money to buy OTC meds and most importantly he kept all of his doctors.  All of this at no cost to us.  She's fantastic!
